South Carolina and Tides Folly Beach Hotel Trip, February 2025

Eight years ago we stumbled upon Folly Beach and Tides Folly Beach Hotel. We planned to stay one night and spent six.

Maybe it’s because our first visit was our last trip as a family of three before our son was born. Maybe it’s the max 25 speed limit island wide that both literally and figuratively force you to slow down. Or maybe its Jay, the first person you see when you arrive at Tides Folly Beach Hotel, who greets you like an old friend he is elated to be reunited with. Whatever it is we are enamored with this place and have chosen to spend vacation here time and time again.

In February we made our fifth visit to Folly Beach and Tides Folly Beach Hotel. The kids wanted nothing more to do this trip then play on the beach, dig in the sand, splash in the waves and swim in the heated pool…no matter what the temperature outside.

Sometimes our vacations are all about adventure. We explore new things and bounce from town to town. But sometimes we just want to chill. This trip we chilled. Exhausted from a COLD Maine winter and just life in general, we stayed close to Tides Folly Beach Hotel and soaked up the amenities that it and Folly Beach had to offer.

We enjoyed the annual Folly Beach Sea and Sand festival, the local restaurants, the heated pool, the sunrises and sunsets, the pier and the beach. We checked out local Folly playgrounds and spent hours digging in the sand and splashing in the waves. And three out of four of our family members may have cried the morning we checked out of our hotel room. I’ll let you guess who. 🤣

Tides Folly Beach Pool….heated to a balmy 82 degrees

View of the sunset from our balcony…every room at Tides Folly Beach Hotel has a view of the ocean.

Rita’s...one of our favorite Folly Beach restaurant.

The kids meals come served on Frisbee’s…or hats…I guess it’s both 🤣

The shrimp and grits are my favorite.
