On our recent trip to Walt Disney World my seven year old son took part in the Knight Package at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Here’s how our experience was.
Scrolling on the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique website I happened to stumble upon “The Knight Package” for 19.95. Intrigued by how anything cost 19.95 at this expensive Walt Disney World add on, I dug further to find out more.
What’s Included?
The basic Knight Package includes: hairstyling, pixie dust or dragon scales and a souvenir sword and shield.
Reservations
Reservations can be booked 60 days in advance. Unlike Disney dining reservations, that start at 7 AM 60 days in advance of your stay, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservations can be made starting at midnight 60 days in advance. I wanted an 8 AM time slot so I stayed up until midnight to book it. I was able to snag an 8:10 AM reservation time for Jake.
Clothing
The basic 19.95 knight package does not include any clothing. For an additional 35 dollars you can add on the knight t-shirt with an attached cape. As of September 2024 it looks like the one in the picture below.
A shirt seemed fun, but I worried it would be uncomfortable and hot in the mid September heat. I opted to buy this t-shirt from Walmart in advance for 15.99. Jake tried it on at home so we knew he would be comfortable in it. He ended up really liking it. It was lightweight and the back was all white, which reflected the sun well.
Morning of our Reservation
The morning of Jake’s reservation we arrived early at Magic Kingdom. Early entry for this park started at 8:30 AM. We waited in the early entry line and entered the park at 7:45 AM. There were plenty of cast members directing guests to the appropriate areas of the park. Guests with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or Cinderellas Royal Table reservations were directed to the left to enter Fantasy Land, while early entry guests where directed to the right. A staff member confirmed our reservation before we were allowed to enter Fantasy Land.
The walk into Fantasy Land was beautiful. It was empty!
Arriving at the Boutique
We were first in line for the Boutique. The doors opened at 8 AM and they double checked our reservation time before allowing us entry.
Entering the Boutique
A receptionist promptly greeted us. Jake was asked how he would like to be referred to. Sir Jacob, Knight Jacob? Prince Jacob? He went with Knight Jacob and ate this right up.
We waited for a couple of minutes. Then a fairy godmother apprentice approached us. She asked what package we would like and took the shirt we had brought. Then she informed me that she would prepare a changing room for us. She addressed us all as the royal family. She was delightful.
Dressing Room
She returned after a couple of minutes and led us to a dressing room where she had hung up Jake’s shirt. She spoke with us briefly then stepped out of the room, giving Jake time to change.
When she left the mirror magically lit up and a fairy godmother appeared and spoke with him for a bit. He loved this.
Jake changed and the fairy godmother apprentice came back to get him.
We very briefly waited in the boutique and then headed into Cinderella’s Castle.
Cinderella’s Castle Salon
Jake’s fairy godmother in training brought us across the way into the salon in Cinderella’s Castle. It was just so cool to go in here. The salon was empty too!
Jake was asked how he wanted his hair styled; smoothed or spiked. He went with smooth. She was so good with him the whole time. He loved being referred to as a Knight Jacob. There was a photo pass photographer taking photos of the whole thing, so here’s approximately 2,000 photos of the adorableness.
Sword and Shield
The fairy godmother’s apprentice presented him with his sword and shield and made him take the official knight oath. It included protecting his sister and helping his parents clean the house. 😂
Final Reveal!
After Jake was sworn in, his chair was turned. He got to see himself in the mirror for the first time and he loved it.
Presenting Knight Jacob!
Finally the fairy godmother apprentice announced “Presenting Knight Jacob!” and everyone claps. Such an adorable moment.
Anika did the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique princess makeover on one of our earlier Disney trips. The knight package was just as good. They don’t skimp on time for the knight package and really make your child feel immersed in the whole process. We were there for a solid 20 minutes. Considering she was just combing and putting gel in his hair, it shows how much of a show they put into the whole thing. Jake loved every second of the experience. He was very pleased with the sword and shield he got to take home too. I’m still shocked that this whole thing only cost 19.95. Just the sword and shield in a gift shop would cost that much.
Photo Time!
We were lead out of the castle by our fairy godmother in training. It was 8:25 AM and Magic Kingdom still hadn’t opened for early entry! Perfect timing. We spent five minutes taking photos.
Early Entry Rope Drop
At 8:30, we entered an empty Magic Kingdom with ease. We stopped briefly to try and pull the sword out of the stone. We decided to rope drop Peter Pan. They told us we were the first family of the day on the ride! Another advantage of having that 8 AM reservation was getting us into early entry rope drop ahead of everyone else. We could have easily gotten right on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!
Sir Mickey’s
After riding a couple of rides we made sure to stop by Sir Mickey’s. Anika didn’t want to do the princess makeover this trip. She did want to get pixie dusted, which they do for free at Sir Mickey’s.
Before leaving we stopped by their photo studio.
Final Thoughts
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom Park was a 10 out of 10 experience for us. The knight makeover was adorable and Jake loved it. The price was phenomenal. Getting an 8 AM reservation gives you the added perk of entering the park early. This lets you see Magic Kingdom without the crowds. It also sets you up for a fantastic early entry rope drop position.
