Maine Travel

Northern Maine and Bangor, December 2021

Over Anika’s Christmas Vacation in December, 2021 we headed to Northern Maine for a few days. My sister in law and her husband own a house in the area. They were away, but let us use their adorable home as our own private Airbnb. We made multiple day trips to explore near by Bangor, Maine.

It was full tourist mode this trip. We started by driving past Steven Kings house.

Next we wandered downtown Bangor and spent a significant amount of time in a place called The Rock and Art Shop. Anika loves rocks and art so she was in heaven. She picked out a piece of silicone and amethyst to take home.

For lunch, at my sister in laws recommendation, we went to a restaurant called Timber Kitchen and Bar. We made reservations to eat outside in one of their Igloos. It’s your own private bubble. It was heated, decorated with Christmas lights and snowing outside so basically we dined in a snow globe. Pretty fantastic. The food was yummy too. We also had a view of the Paul Bunyan statue.

After lunch we headed back to change into snow gear and go to the playground near the house we were staying at for a bit.

Anika and I painted our nails with the polish she got from Santa.
EXHAUSTED

The next day we bundled up and went for a walk in the Bangor City Forest. We wanted to do the boardwalk bog walk, but it was closed in the winter, so we wandered one of the other trails.

What is it with kids and water? They are mesmerized every time.

After this we headed back and got pizza for dinner to eat while we watched a movie.

This trip was the perfect way to end 2021.
