Things that make me smile

Things that made me smile this week

It’s Friday! With Thanksgiving approaching we have been discussing gratitude a lot around here. It’s reminding me to take the time to notice the things that I’m grateful for. The things that make me stop and smile. Here are a few from this week.

This Quote…

Anika

Six is by far my most favorite of all ages. Anika has turned into what I dreamed my daughter would be. A creative, sweet, fun little girl. She’s independent now, but still innocent and adorable and wants to hang out with me.

Picture Anika had to draw on the computer for one of her school assignments. Does it get any cuter than this?

Native deodorant

Since I gave up my beloved Secret antiperspirant over six years ago I’ve been on a quest to find a natural deodorant that actually works. I’ve failed over and over again until recently I finally splurged and tried Native. I was hesitant because of the cost but it is worth it. It does not irritate my underarms like some other brands I’ve tried and it gets the job done. It’s pricey but I figured out if I buy it directly from their website in bundle form and sign up for coupons (which the send all the time) it brings down the cost significantly. I’m hooked.

Little House on the Prairie Audiobooks

We’ve been working our way through the Little House on the Prairie Books the past few months. We just finished The Long Winter. I never read these growing up so I’m getting to experience them for the first time with my kids. The writing is phenomenal. So descriptive that when she discusses the cold and snowy blizzards my kids and I needed a blanket. The audio books are read by Cherry Jones and she adds so much more to the experience then if I was reading them. The lessons about values, priorities and work ethic that are taught are perfect and so timely for today, even if it was written 80 years ago.

Me in a Pot

My mom sent me this picture this week of me in a pot when I was a year old.

First Female Vice President

Anika had asked a couple of weeks ago who the first woman president had been. I explained, much to her complete shock, that there had not yet been a woman president. Getting to tell her this week that we now had our first woman as vice president definitely made me smile.

And Finally this quote…
